Description:
The primary responsibilities of the individual include affinity maturation of antibodies and peptides using a variety of display technologies. The successful candidate must have excellent training from a recognized laboratory in the field of antibody/protein engineering and must possess hands-on expertise in antibody library construction. Knowledge in structure-guided rationale design is a plus. The successful candidate will be expected to employ his/her excellent oral and written communication skills, be highly motivated, well-organized and capable of independent work in a collaborative environment. Strong work ethic is required.
Requirements:
The position requires a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or an equivalent field with a minimum of 3 years of laboratory research experience in protein engineering. The successful candidate will have extensive working knowledge of standard and cutting-edge molecular biology techniques including DNA cloning and mutagenesis with PCR and library design. Protein chemistry techniques, includingaffinity determinations andsequence analysis, are desirable. In addition, he/she will have previous hands-on experience with library construction with any display technology, such as phage display and some demonstration of preliminary protein characterization. The ideal candidate would also have flow cytometry experience, and especially FACS using a FACSAria. The ability to work with numerous samples in parallel while following detailed scientific protocols and maintaining scientific record keeping is required. The candidate must be productive in a dynamic, expanding research environment, thrive within a team, be able to communicate scientific information effectively, and be open to and capable of learning new skills efficiently. Strong references that support these characteristics are required.
